Its not hard to do at 100yards either and I got into trouble for snapping the chain holding the gong at 200yards with the TIKKA 6.5x55 last time I had the opportunity to shoot at that distance.
Yep there's nothing like shooting responsibly and that's nothing like shooting responsibly. Hey it must have been deliberate seeing how you and your hand loads are so brilliant.
Any way none of this is helping HALODIN with his reloading.
Oh I've already done that, sent him the scan I said I would send. This is the fun bit now :lol: :lol: :lol:

I can see reloading takes it to the next level, so I'm pleased I took the plunge. The lack of ammo in various weights was the driving force, but every cloud has a silver lining...
I think I'll have my eyes shut when I shoot my first reloaded round... :lol:

That reminds me HALODIN the type of rifle you are re loading for and the distances you shoot over will have a bearing on your reloading regime.
If you are shooting F class or Bench rest for instance with a longer heavy barrel you will have to take that into consideration if you are intending to shoot long distances for instance 1000 yards you might need a different bullet powder combo. But what do I know I am just a dumb Northener.
It does not matter what distance you shoot over re loading gives you the ability to hand craft the best ammo that will be tailor made for your gun giving you the best performance/accuracy available no matter what distance you shoot it over and the satisfaction that you developed and built the load your self go to it my friend. Go stroke that press handle feel the rush when that first cartridge rolls out of your press. Feel the grin spreading from cheek to cheek when five of your rounds clover leaf in the middle of your bull.

Interestingly the page from the Hornady loading manual Blu kindly sent me, groups 150gr and 155gr bullets together. I didn't expect that, any idea why they treat the 2 weights as one? For the record it lists the Hornady 155gr. A-MAX as 39.3gr - 45.8gr for VIHT N-140.

You've got some good advice for your 308.
For 44 mag, I use Alliant Unique for 'light' loads and 2400 for full-fat. Check out the Alliant website for loading data.
2400 was designed for the .44 magnum and I've found nothing better. You can also use it for reduced loads and cast bullets in the 308.

2400 was actually designed for small capacity centre fire rifle cartridges and its introduction coincided with that of the 22 Hornet in 1932.
2400 fps is in the 22Hornet velocity range.
In saying that it also does well in magnum pistol loads and the 410.
Regarding cast boolits 16 gns of 2400 is Harris's recommended 200 yrd target load for all larger military cases from 30-40 Krag up to 30-06 and 7.92x57 calibre capacity cases, see a copy of his article in the library.

I stand corrected! Actually looks like it was the other way round, with Keith developing the 44Mag around his 2400 loads in 44spl.

I've just found something quite cool... I was reloading last night and getting fed up with the height of my RCBS 505, so I did some hunting around and came up with this. AirServer lets you mirror what's on your boing to your PC over wireless, the AirServer app goes full screen if you need it. Both my reloading desk and my work desk are adjacent to each other, so this is perfect for me.
Very cool. Although my scales are on an eye-level shelf and natural light mirrors the image direct to my retina also wirelessly.
Seriously though, nice set-up.
I reloaded my first 303 and 308s at the weekend. 303 grouped very nicely, using 174gn SMKs in my own once-fired brass, PPU and HXP. Now in the process of developing a load for the 308, again with my own fire-formed brass but lighter 155 MatchKings.
Very satisfying turing the various components into a complete round (at least to a complete novice like me - I expect the novelty will soon wear off).

Now you've given me an idea, how about a head tracking camera using 3-axis gyros connected to some virtual reality glasses, the world's first reloading heads-up-display! clapclap
Glad to hear you're having success with reloading, I haven't had a chance to test any of my reloads yet, but hopefully this Sunday with a bit of luck. I hope the novelty doesn't wear off, I'm enjoying it!
