Off topic, but I note from galleryrifle.com Peter Bishop has passed away :(

I bought my Finnfire from him just over a year back and he seemed a lovely gentleman.

Yes - there will be an obituary in the next NRA journal as well.

nfrancis,

you have regularly ignored the notion of doing both, both shooting and introducing new shooters to shooting and petitioning, I do BOTH
I petition as well as having introduced 10s if not well over 100 individuals to the reality of our hobby. This merely at the age of 23, I have even written an article for Firearms UK about how to introduce younger shooters to the sport which once I've added some pictures and edited a little will (all being well and good) go on their site.

Competitions are expensive, if you really want young blood in you're going to have to drop the competition crap, not only is it getting boringly repetitive and troll like on here, it is also unrealistic. Many young shooters who do not have family members in the sport struggle as it is. Club kit is a must, or loans from more fortunate friends of rifles for range days. Competition fees, plus extra ammo and if you're so insistent on those using Bisley, then extra travel, food etc... makes the shallow pockets of the young weep. Seriously getting a sodding grip. You may say it#s the usual excuse but it's a reality, I was fortunate that I built up most of my collection before university, during uni my shooting suffered, why? I had sod all money and a child to raise. Many are either worse off than that.

Embrace both sides, petition and shoot, and I hope to god your attitude doesn't rub off on those you introduced to the sport otherwise we are all F**ked

Crap! - really?

We the undersigned respectfully petition the Government to amend the Firearms Acts to allow the ownership and use of .22 calibre Rimfire pistols for competitive sporting purposes in England, Wales and Scotland.

We have been here before with nfrancis' weird and very anti shooting attitude towards gun ownership.

Collectors/reenacters/history buffs/movie fans/hunters/target shooters/business' and all the rest who own guns...
You all have the FB and my personal vote and support.

What nfrancis is saying is...if you like trains and have a model in your back yard but never go anywhere...freak.

Something that is ultra important is not to let the thoughts of another mass shooting and the reaction from the public and the Government (nfrancis is referring to this) affect us who own guns. Be proud of being a gun owner, be that as a collector or any other group mentioned above or not mentioned here. At this stage after the last 30 years of legislation they have pretty much taken as much as can be taken away from us without going the whole way and banning gun ownership altogether. It is not an exaggeration when people say that the UK has the strictest gun laws. If another mass shooting or any other event happens that will make the Government react then we have to hope that we have national organisations that will fight our corner and remember to stand united. It does not matter what your neighbour shoots or not, stand united. What have we got to loose? Our license? Yes maybe, however stand tall and proud being a gun owner while you can or bend over until they potentially take the guns off us?

For this channel yes - I have no doubt I am considered very politically incorrect!

No apologies made

To put this back into context, I am not slating all competing, I used to compete, postal and shoulder to shoulder, NSRA, Cumbria and Northumberland League as well as the Phoenix Postal. (hell I ever got top junior in one of the NSRA Sport Rifle rounds years ago!)

But your insistence that this is the ONLY way to promote shooting is unrealistic. Please, instead of cherry picking my post, actually come up with a constructive argument, because otherwise you are just a complete troll,
