Unless you find an airsoft one with a smaller thread and open it up slightly.

According to Jackson's they may have stock or can certainly get some Reflex mods (I know you want a fake) -so maybe worth a call to see what scrappers he has - after all you only want the outside?

Just had Iancxx measure his shiny new DM80, it's 225mm x 42.5mm dia which would mean either cutting off about 40mm of the existing barrel shroud or finding someone who could ream it out and increase its inner diameter by about 2mm so the mod would fit inside it and be "sleeved" by the shroud, that way no need to remove the barrel nut smile2

Managed to get to the range this morning.

Shot 5 rounds of "Limit" 124gn with thread protector on at 25 yards - Top group
And 5 without - Bottom Group. Both groups from the bench using a rest.

Image

I do not believe that the thread protector on my rifle, is causing any accuracy issues, but later on I noticed a group opening up and found the protector had come lose again, so I either need to use some PTFE tape, Glue or leave it off whilst shooting. Or get something that stays on!

I managed to get 50 rounds of Privi Partizan 115gn and shot two 5 shot groups as before,

Image

The groups are noticeably smaller and this may be my fall back ammunition, if it was not £24 per 100.

Feed issues persist, but 2 things are stopping me from contacting SGC at this point.

Firstly, I suspect that how you load the magazine is important. I find that if I hold the magazine in my left hand with the rear away from me. I can push a round in with my right hand thumb and then push it all the way back with my left thumb. Any deviation from this and I suspect that the rounds are not sitting correctly.

Secondly, Lubrication! I need to read the (on line) manual again re lubrication. I noticed that when Bob sent the gun back to me it had a good layer of grease on the bolt. I cleaned that off and today was using my normal oil. After the first 70 odd rounds I started to get miss feeds then after 100 it was almost every second shot. So as the problem appearer to be escalating, and no other changes were made to the rifle, I will explore this further.

Finally, I tried a few rounds from the weak shoulder. Despite there being nothing about this gun other than the ejection port that makes it a right hander, it took a lot of effort to get my cheek position and eye relief right etc. I will need to practise this before any competition and thankfully can do it at home if need be. Using the lever release, stops you from having a proper grip on the pistol grip as your left thumb needs to operate the lever, this was not a great problem and with practise will not be an issue.
What is a issue is the amount of Shi* that hist you in the face when you fire a shot from the weak shoulder. There is no way on earth that anyone should ever try this without safety eye wear. After the first blast I was seriously considering stopping and thoughts of paintball style masks were entering my head. I persisted but found that I was seriously gun shy and was predicting the blast so badly that my shots were all over the place.
I will need to get over this, ether through practice or with some kind of shield / defelctor. The competition scores are so close that dropping points on this stage alone will see me tumble down the score board.

Most importantly I enjoyed using the gun today :shakeshout:

Mostly good news then :good:

Hopefully I'll get mine out this afternoon

I loaded a batch on the progressive press as I got my bits from Titan Reloading to convert it from .44 on Tuesday, first 30 were strange as they were crimped to the point of indenting the bullet but it was still able to be rotated, not loose as such and wouldn't come out even with a single whack of the bullet puller. Loaded another 50 this morning and all nice and tight, weird!.

I've fashioned a crude but hopefully effective brass catcher from sticky back plastic and a Fairy liquid bottle ...... well to be more precise a metal coathanger to form a holder and a spare carry bag off my headphones, sits over the ejection port by cliping it to my scope rail riser. Hopefully I'll manage to come back with all my brass this time smile2

You can't say i didn't warn you about the left handed port blast! Not much fun is it! :? A solid brass catcher traps most of it (all of it if i was minded to cut it to the contours of the rifle) but that slows things down in terms of proving clear, plus it obscures you view for clearing jams. I've been grinning and bearing it for the most part, but it's not nice

Reflex suppressors come in that size. Alternatively you could get the barrel re-threaded to a more common size to take B&T 9mm suppressors or whatever you like.

Some tart parts that I ordered from deal extreme (China)

The Magpul parts have "Magpul" all over them, came in Magpul packaging with Magpul instructions. I wonder how much of this stuff is being sold as original Magpul equipment. At the price I got my items at I am more than happy with the quality and build etc.

Angled fore grip and flip up open sights

The single point sling was less than a £10 and is just a bit of fun - but will do the job if ever required!

A close up of the rear sight and the flip down small / large aperture. The sights feel really good and are familiar to me having used the MP5. I will try and give these a go next week.

I also got a small red dot sight that I was planning on putting at 45 deg on the front rail but having had a play with it in that position it did not feel right so it may go on the shotgun.
It came wit a spare mini screw driver, Allen key / wrench and 2 batteries, not bad for cheap knock off.
Notice the graphics - this came from China..

Lots of fun,
