A mate used to own one, it was a nasty rattly thing that seemed overly complex.

He, myself and the ex BiL were at a competition one rainy day waiting for a three man flurry to start. we had retired to the BiL's ageing Jag and he and I were in the front whilst my mate sat in the back, were chatting away when I heard an odd sliding sound, we both turned round to see the mate practising with his speed loader and live cartridges.

That provoked an interesting exchange and I have disliked the things to this day.

Blaming a gun for the actions of a divvie?? Surely not :?

I have just been adding some tart parts to my 9mm with the flag in the breach. The flag stops the bolt from closing and holds it around 1cm or more away from being home.

I was surprised to realise that when I pulled the trigger the hammer was realised and the firing pin engaged etc. Clearly this would allow for a round to be fired - if all the right conditions were in place - out of breach. For some reason I had assumed that this would nor be possible.

Just out of interest I have just tried this with my SIG 522 SWAT - it would NOT fire.

The sterling smg had a fixed firing pin an was not an issue.

DM, that's rather worrying, do you know if any other owner has tried this and could verify it? an OOB firing would certainly cause major problems.

Toffe, no, not a sausage since the phone call off Shooting Supplies saying their guy had no idea what could have caused it and it went down to SGC on the 12th I think.

I'll email him next week and see if he's heard anything. I'm not in any hurry to get it back to be honest, still very unsure if I would be able to ever trust it again.

Tried this last week on mine and was unsure if the pin moved or not (I was concerned having read earlier posts) so tried it again with new case and primer only and mine wouldn't ignite the primer till the bolt was closed, I tried it three times (three primer only rounds) as I was a tad worried, mine is the older Uzi mag version if this makes any difference. I also got a bit paranoid about the firing pin maybe sticking with dirt (I've had it a while) and then slam firing so I've now scrubbed that right out too just to be on the safe side. Dick.

You can get OOB with the 9mm but that's usually from bump firing or using a slide fire stock which screws up the timing, and we can't do either with the SGC 9mm's so I'd not worry about it - especially with the force of that bolt slamming the round into the chamber.
.22LR OOB is another story - far more likely to get one, have seen quite a few and they don't half make you jump, either way ear and eye protection is definately the way forward.

You can do that with almost every gun i've owned, yes the hammer can fire but it never touches pin, it just hits the bottom corner of the bolt, or at least it does on mine. Quite handy as it allows you to fire off the action without dry firing the pin
