I'd like to hear more about what they're doing, and if you know more than others, I'm welcoming to hearing what you have to say. Not to twist it, and not to slag off the NRA, but to understand what they do in times like these.

I wasn't really old enough to remember the pistol ban anymore than remembering my dad being broken up about having to give back his pistols including one that was very sentimental to him as my mom bought it for his 40th birthday and it was one he always wanted. Ever since I got into shooting, people have said that the NRA didn't do much then and continue to suggest that they only really focus on Bisley, and not much else.

I've seen glimpses of this to be contrary, so don't accept it as a whole, however when something like this happens, surely they should be projecting a positive message to everyone from every avenue possible. They have got Andrew Mercer on local radio, but they're a National Governing Body. They should be getting National coverage for a National problem.

Why I highlighted the websites in the way that I did, is because when you run your own website, it takes about as long as writing this post on here to post something to the website and instantly let your followers and people looking at "shooting organisations" in the UK know that something is being done.

I'm sure behind closed doors that those people down in Bisley are working their arses off... but if you don't let people know you're doing something, then it's not beyond the realms of possibility that people will believe you're not doing anything...

Again, not at you karen - you provide us with information, but surely someone from the NRA should be keeping us up to date rather than someone that left...? Just a thought.? Again, not aimed at you.

Tatooed Gun, agreed on that, better than nothing BUT, the ante HAS to be raised loudly! All the Association should have their legal eagles onto this big time and all these nonsensical statements MUST be countered as they arise.

The press should also be taken to task maybe by numerous complaints to the Press Commission?? and also the "police" complaints Commission for their nonsensical scaremongering to push their flawed agenda, especially when the report does seem to suggest MOST problems are THEIR fault!

Seems the police are hell bent in destroying businesses and liveliehoods, which if I recall is NOT part of their remit unless the operation is of a criminal nature.

Maybe it's time for a NEW police force, one that isn't mired in political skullduggery and blatant bullsh1t!

My take on Mercer's radio appearance earlier, suitably reworked to cut out all the HMIC hate speech: https://ukshootingnews.wordpress.com/20 ... -alarmist/

And, for your reading interest, a blog post about the whole saga that came my way from a young shooter: https://oldworldporcupine.wordpress.com ... in-the-uk/

I do wish the NRA would get onto the national papers and TV to comment on this stuff, but you can't build up a PR presence overnight. What I hope they're doing is looking carefully at ways and means of doing that, including retaining professional PR and PA firms. That said, it's really, really good to see Mercer getting out there, even if it is on a regional radio station. That at least is something the NRA can show to demonstrate that it's providing value for money to its members.

That sums it up perfectly.

In a morbid sort of way, it's odd that many of those campaigning for a "right to die" are using suicides as a reason why we should not be allowed guns.

Just sayin'

What's grumpy about that, it's pretty hard to comment otherwise is it not?

So, they want a right to die and then complain about the tools ..yeah good on them kukkuk There are countless ways to commit suicide, if they want to ban guns we should be campaigning AGAINST the right to die - might make them shut up on things they know nothing about!

Suicide prevention let's say ;) .
