If you GENUINELY fear for your life you can shoot -but you WILL have to justify it in court to 12 people who will be all sad that you shot some god fearing, church going homey!
Not quite true there Chuck old son, it all depends in which State you live. For instance here in Michigan the Police make a report to the County Prosecutor who then decides if the shooting is justified or not. Hey start waving a knife at someone and threatening them or use a knife to rob someone, chances are you'll get shot and the shooter will never see the inside of a court. Also gone are the days when the scrotes family could sue you for shooting said scrote.

I of course agree with your greater knowledge Blu but I was trying to be more general rather than State specific. It IS a possibility in some places though.

I stayed with an ex cop and his lass a few years ago, some crack heads had tried the house the previous day. On turning in for the night he gives me a flashlight and a HK USP .45 with a mag of Federal hollowpoints.

“It's ok it's Arizona, just shoot any motherf’r that comes in” – surreal for sure but a great system :good: :good: .

Fair enough Chuck but I write of the majority of the States with CCW, the Castle Doctrine and Stand your ground laws on the books. In those States mate if it's a legal shooting you aren't going to see the inside of a courtroom.

I did refer to Castle but in tackB's case it did sound as though the shooting was a first resort - and that is a debateable issue is it not??.

Of course I agree if some tw't pulls a knife on you then it is to be assumed he/she will use it - and ergo deserves a pair of 45's for their trouble.

but if violence is unavoidable then I find it's advised to get a good one in first ? I've received a good punch on the nose and it takes a lot of the fight out of you straight away!

TackB,

BUT: Not everyone can throw a punch that would have any effect whereas the weakest, smallest and slightest of people can pull a trigger and have a great effect!

Relying on fisticuffs and pugilistic skills (and a 'tash as a diversionary tactic) pre-supposes your attacker is likely to succumb to such blows, which in many cases they will NOT and in fact may even be excited by the thought of beating the proverbial out of you.

Each to their own of course.

chuck, the fisticuff example was to try and explain that if violence is unavoidable then hit first hit hard and never give up and I think that mindset applies whatever violent situation your forced into , obviously you have done everything possible to avoid confrontation first and made every effort to remove yourself from the volatile situation first.

I agree with concealed carry for people without a criminal record but it will most likely never happen here in the uk.

I advocate not having a victims mindset.

If there's likely to be more ND's in future because of the Glock, what is obvioulsy needed is an additional safety! sign01
