Seems like a cracking good deal. Same receiver as the full bore variety?

DW58, I really like the stock on your 222. :good: I need something like that for my 257.

That's been around for a long time now - stocked around 1988/89 by a company who used to have a stocking factory in Alness. I love the thumbhole stocks, they point so naturally an for freehand shooting handle like a shotgun.

I believe Boyds offer some pretty good and very reasonable thumbholes.

This arrived recently, not mine as it is due to be collected by the owner very shortly however well worth adding the pictures as it is unusual.

The Mauser Model 66 with telescopic bolt. Superb balance with a slick action and of good weight, I would give one house room.

It was supplied by William Evans at Bisley, service you could only dream of and for those interested they have plenty of them

I like the VZ58 - does it shoot ok and reliably? Also, I heard it fires from an open bolt (under the false top cover), is that right? I am sort of tempted by one...

I have not had a chance to try it yet, and you are correct with the bolt details.
I was told at Wm evans that they are very reliable and will operate with standard ammunition and unlike other .22 semi (military) do not require minimags etc

Looks the business and felt extremely solid when I looked at one. Keen to hear details about how it performs when you've tried it out.
