I find it difficult to believe nothing can be done. Is that what you think?

I don't think there is much can be done to stop some people killing themselves or others. People have being doing that from the beginning of mankind. People have committed mass killings long before firearms. The focus should be on illegal firearms not law abiding citizens who have firearms. Here in N Ireland for example legal firearms have never being the problem, its the illegal firearms that were and are the issue. Can anything be done , Arm all police so they could ( in some cases respond ) quicker to incidents like the Cumbria Shootings , were the police had to back of and wait for armed response. The last police officers that were murdered in England had no way of protecting themselves or civilians, they paid with their lives. Calling for armed response isn't much use when someone is shooting and throwing hand grenades at you. So my answer is more firearms not less.

I couldn't agree more.

In NI the Police are all armed and pistols are still available to Joe Public.

I feel safer here than anywhere in GB.

Yes you did. You said if there was a way to prevent another mass shooting, you would support it 100% In order to prevent another mass shooting by someone with a licensed firearm, then a 100% ban is the only way.

You will never prevent another massacre, regardless of what hoops you deem a "suitable" person should jump through, never.
Some times bad people just do bad things.

Not to us "in the know". We seem incapable of educating the masses though, and their opinion is what counts. Handguns are evil baby killers.

No I didn't. You can't preserve "our existing shooting rights" with a 100% ban on firearms can you? That wouldn't make sense.

That's your opinion, which I don't share. The people who do these massacres are mentally unstable and the authorities should have taken their firearms from them. The perception is people are fine one day and they snap the next, that's nonsense, there will always be tell tale signs that something's wrong.

There will be more mass shootings in the UK, it's just a question of when and if there's a way to head this off at the pass and preserve innocent lives and our existing shooting rights, then I'll support it 100%.

Is that your opinion or do you have evidence to back it up. ? What were the tell tale signs that Dr Harold Shipman was one of this countries biggest mass killers. ?

IMHO its no good confusing the situation by applying common sense !
Hungerford ( Michael Ryan) resulted in a ban on self loading rifles ( this despite it being that the police did not respond to "intel" regarding his "unsuitability ").
Dunblane ( Thomas Hamilton ) resulted in the banning of hand guns ( this despite the police not acting on intel from both public and serving police on his unsuitability )
Notice the commonality here ?

Logically, in both cases the police were to blame so shouldn't they be banned ? ( well at least from having anything to do with firearm licensing )

Yes I know its being a bit flippant but thats the basics of the matter. As I said, IMHO ( other opinions are available BBC, Gaurdian, Daily Mail etc…..)

It's my opinion based on life experience. When there's something bothering someone I know, I can tell, if there's a change in character it stands out like a sore thumb IMO.

Was this information used by British shooting organisations to block the ban(s) or did the information come out too late?
