Pathetic excuses by the police to take attention away from those who ARE a problem. It's the fact they LIE time and time again that's soannoying, just for once can ACPO/PLOD not tell the TRUTH instead of spinning and hyping to terrify Joe Gullible!

How can they expect public support and respect when they just cannot help bullsh1tting about everything and inventing their own laws previously known as "guidance"

TRG42 or AW in 338 would come in handy over there.

The afghans picked off a lot of Russians with SMLEs !

The terrorism angle to do with radicalism here and prevention of a Mumbai type attack or some "self styled jihadi" running amok in the UK.

As it was explained to me, the approach is to make sure ( where persons of interest are concerned ) that the rifle they bought 1 yr ago or 4 yrs ago etc are still in their possession and still in the UK.

So - why not deal with the persons of interest then instead of all this stupid scaremongering and time wasting! Last I recall there was a wee register of what you had and shot at the club...."to help the police make sure you actually had a NEED for your guns" or such like!. Anyone who HAS disposed of a gun to the M.E. will have legged it by now since we told them what was going to happen. kukkuk

Anyway, I am sure it is MUCH easier to get weapons over there, hell we are supplying them to every terrorist we can find one way or another! Nope, there's no reason at all that can really be justified when we are dumping weapons on moderate muslims left right and center and making things worse for ourselves in the long run.

Oh I am sure they can get their hands on much better than anything we have locked away in our safe boxes if that is the plan - Ireland is just across the water, I am pretty sure there are folks there who could provide what's needed for a proper all out attack Mumbai style.

Derrick Bird didn't need to go to Ireland to get firearms to kill 12 people...

I'm not saying I'm right and you're wrong I'm just looking at it from a different perspective.

From a practical point of view, Police Scotland has been doing unannounced checks for quite some time and the world hasn't ended - if these checks were going to be fishing expeditions, I would have had a couple of visits by now! :o

When I got my FAC the flo advised me I could be subjected to a random check. As far as I know they've always been done, I just think they're making a fuss about it now due to some ulterior motive.

Check the text just below the photo of the cabinet.

MIke
The guns in the cabinet are air rifles. They also say 15 firearms were lost or stolen last year in Cheshire, did they include non licensed air guns in that figure I wonder.

If the figure includes shotguns, it's been inflated by 10%; if it's firearms only, it's been fraudulently doubled.

We need to start pushing the police to break down their stats, or at least make it clear that they're not including component parts when they talk about gun thefts. The backlash against NABIS, after their crusade against antique firearms which featured pictures of rusty old flintlocks, CO2 pistols and de-acs, means any press release involving NABIS now has the line "Tests have shown these are viable firearms".

I made the point in my original article; it's no good the police saying "X guns are stolen, this is awful" when the target audience sees their use of stats as dishonest at best and outright liars with a hidden agenda at worst.

I bet this was not what they had in mind:
