Re: Repealing the Firearms (Amendment) No.2 Act
Is this thread still going?
When someone says "it's not about the money" you know what? it probably is all about money!
Re: Repealing the Firearms (Amendment) No.2 Act
New to the thread, just came across it via Twitter, I'll give it a thorough read when I get the chance, but for now just wanted to add that I am currently working, as part of Firearms UK on a petition to this effect, and has I believe has been pointed out towards the end of this thread it is not the simple task that some would have you believe. Our own approach has had to be modified, work which is still ongoing after feedback was received from our first draft.
There has been lots of interest in the return of pistols recently which has somewhat forced our hand in this, despite being very busy with other work. If anyone is already or where planning to publish a petition, draft legislation, consultation, etc to the effect of re-introducing pistols whether limited to .22 or not could you please consult with us; so we do not duplicate each others work and present a serious professional option to those who would support such a motion.
Thank you.

Mike Wells of the sportsman's association is the man you need to talk to....

Please, please, please don't launch another petition! This has already been done several times and all have been spectacular failures!
We so need a concerted, original, joined up campaign that will grab the imagination and silence detractors. Another list of names is not what is needed. The last one I saw barely managed to get into four figures, if I remember correctly.

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

We are yet to publish a petition on this, and I agree there have been many tragic attempts, this is something that isn't going to be rushed, but with positive results in recent polls, Nigel Farage raising the issue and people repeatedly sharing the old Telegraph poll of which we were apart, the timing seems positive.Sim G wrote:Please, please, please don't launch another petition! We are open to suggestions and input on how to develop a campaign that would be worthy of a success. I have spoken with Mike Wells on this already, and have invited BASC to discuss the petition.

Re: Repealing the Firearms (Amendment) No.2 Act
Before anyone jumps in saying why do basc want handguns back? They are all dear stalkers! I will answer you now by saying that basc supports all shooters and all disciplines unlike the n.r.a. ,who by admission in a previous post is only a one man voice where as basc has 5 in their pr dept......i suggest the nra needs to employ more folk on that front, iian wr can't be expected to do everyitthing on his own. On a similar note the nra can't be taken seriously as the top representative of shooting in the uk until it does undertake a bolder approach to "as their charter says promoting shooting" in the UK .........

Actually their charter is; 'to promote target shooting in the UK'...the running man wrote: On a similar note the nra can't be taken seriously as the top representative of shooting in the uk until it does undertake a bolder approach to "as their charter says promoting shooting" in the UK .........
...and while much needs doing on that front, including an overhaul of Century butts, I rather not see them spending money on PR staff...

Then why don't they do so?....Dougan wrote:Actually their charter is; 'to promote target shooting in the UK'...

You can target shoot with a pistol........or are they just into RIFLES!Actually their charter is; 'to promote target shooting in the UK'...
Political Correctness is the language of lies, written by the corrupt , spoken by the inept!
Re: Repealing the Firearms (Amendment) No.2 Act
If this and a few other threads are anything to go on, I'd say we have been thoroughly divided and conquered. Campaigning for the return of S1 pistols is a waste of time unless there's unity amongst the shooting community.
