Trading Standards or Small Claims Court?

I can't find a reference, but I'm fairly sure that the rules for transport of ammo in personal baggage actually require that the ammo is carried within ordinary hold baggage and that no indication of the ammunition is placed on the outside of the container.

The BA website says (see bottom line)

Preparing firearms for travel

Each firearm carried must be accompanied by the appropriate firearms certificate.
The firearm must be unloaded.
There will be no additional cost for the carriage of ammunition packed with the firearm*.
Ammunition must be packed in either its original packaging or in a suitable container that prevents movement between shells or cartridges, i.e. loose ammunition is not permitted.
Bags with ammunition must not bear 'explosives' labels.

So if I'm right (and BA's rules seem to suggest so), EasyJet may be in breach of regulations by labelling your bag with ammunition in.

You can obtain the home addresses of all the board members of SleezyJet from Companies' House. It's online so you don't even have to go there and leaf through the ledgers. Once you have written a letter to each of them, post it by recorded delivery. It's amazing how quickly people respond once they get a letter at home - especially when they or their spouse has to get out of bed at dark o'clock to sign for it...

The OP has said the ammo had a label saying "ammunition" not "explosives".

The whole travelling with firearms thing hasn't really changed over the years from what I can see. I've flown on various airlines with all sorts of guns and it never fails to surprise me how they deal with the whole process. It's a wonder they didn't lose everything or accidentally put it on a plane to Syria.

Anyway, the point is that Easyjet will simply quote their Ts & Cs in this instance and when they leave baggage off a flight there has to be at least a 24 hour delay in receiving it before you can claim anything. It doesn't seem as though anything was permanently lost or damaged in this instance, so travel insurance won't apply. There won't be any provision in their terms for compensating you for inconvenience caused by delaying or losing your baggage.

It's a rubbish service, I know, but they hold all the cards I'm afraid.

What i don't get is why anyone would use sleazyjet in the first place...not as if they give value for money..or a rats about their customers..

In fairness, I fly with easyjet at least 4 flights a year (2 holidays), have always found their staff, both airports and trolly dollies, to be friendly, polite and helpful - especially when I needed assistance at Gatwick - and have only had 1 flight delayed more than about 15 minutes in 5 years (and that was because the inbound plane had been hit by lightning & they had to check it all out before taking off again - more than happy to wait on that occasion!).

Prices were well below what other carriers wanted to charge as well.

Having said all that, I've not tried to take anything out of the ordinary with them. Time will tell when we try to take our cats with us in a couple of years time!

A friend of ours has a daughter who works as a trainer for Easyjet air crew.....she says the ground staff are poorly trained and unmotivated, and this would be a typical example of a care less attitude that is all too common.

Good luck with your claim but I expect that it will come to nothing after going round in circles for months on end......

There is! Take the train from Luton straight through to Gatwick and then the BA code share flight to Inverness.

Or even through Heathrow to Aberdeen and then a drive - anything to avoid EasyJet!
