Actually guys the Chinese arsenal Norinco made an AK47 in 5.56 (Norinco 84S). I owned one up until a few years ago and there are still a fair few of them floating around over here. Bill (anti gun) Clinton put a stop to them coming into the country when he was President.

Saiga Sporter doesn't look at all bad at the price!

Longer 21" barrel should be more accurate?!

Martin, I sold it because it was very hard on the brass, It would leave a huge dent in the brass on rendering it useless for reloading. Also if I'm honest it wasn't really that accurate but saying that it was fun to shoot.

Several makers and countries made the AK-47 is several different calibers they have been around for 25-30 years or so.
Just because the chamber is different does not change the design of the gun.
The Sagia is a fine firearm.
Check for a VEPER also, russian sporting rifles.
Both are AK's with fuggly sporty furniture

If you do get one, I would recommend get one of these http://www.rusmilitary.com/images/gp_recoil_pad.jpg as it increases the length of pull and makes it more comfortable to shoot.

Mine just before I sold it
