I think Dougan makes a great point - not all of the shooting Mags are dedicated to field sports, there is Target shooting, clay shooting etc too!

Go figure..
Your right, and most young boys would I'm sure take ghoulish interest if they found a dead animal, which is natural - But I think it's up to the parents to decide where, when and what kids are exposed to...Tower.75 wrote:The anti clearly is unaware that the average kiddie now'a'days sees more gore in videogames then they would in a shooting magazine with a picture of a dead bunny.
I dont think they had you in mind mr Badger but yes, you are definitely different to the rest of us. uOh we are sub-human: we get under your feet all the time !
The shooting community is doing itself no favours with the large bag trophy photos or some of the videos that get posted on you tube. I have no issue with someone shooting 3 or 4 foxes or 200 pigeons in a day but the photo of a couple of blokes in camo gear with big guns and even bigger smiles holding 2 bloody carcasses is going to offend many people. I grew up in the old school where if something was going to eat your pheasants / chickens/ crops you shot it. End of.If it did you no harm you let it be. In general the folk who take these photos or videos are recreational shooters who are kidding themselves and trying to justify their sport by calling it pest control. That's a big generalisation I know but I don't know of any keepers, stalkers, estate managers etc who feel the need to display the results of their days work in the media.Tower.75 wrote:

...personally I have become more sensitive to things like animal cruelty as I've got older; so don't particularly want to see dead animals 'trophied' on the cover of other magazines...
...And I think it's that they are shown as 'trophies' which is what I object to most - I subscribe to Bushcraft magazine, and there have been a few articles on skinning and cooking rabbits and pigeons ect....but the articles are factual and educational - the magazine is very 'family friendly' with many contributions from young bushcrafters....and as far as I know, no one has ever complained about the content.
Btw: I haven't actually listened to the broadcast...it'd probably wind me up too.
clapclap clapclapHaving said all that, if you not want to look at such pictures don't pick up the magazine in the first place

Watch a sheep slaughtered for the table. Watch a sheep get its throat cut before being killed and butchered for a Halal table.
Then take a walk in to the area were they are killing and butchering cows(beef).
Show this to Joe public and there children.
Fox and rabbits would pail in to in significance.
They kill them every day so we can eat meat. They cut the throats of sheep every day to keep our Muslim brothers happy.
I am a meat eater by the way and I used to be a regular visitor to my local slaughter house before they shut it down.
I used to go there while they were slaughtering and collect the sheeps stomaches and Beasts hearts(they were still warm) to feed to my dogs.
These people dont live in the real world.
