using previously fired lead for casting

You might point out to the range management that they should support the shooters by giving them first dibs.
I'd drive a long way for 1/2 ton upwards

Yes,its called he had first dibs on it! Nothing wrong with range lead apart from the crap which comes out when you melt it down,but other than that its fine.

I spent few hours this afternoon melting range lead into clean ingots.
