According to Google the word whiskey is Hiberno-English so it must be true.

Whiskey or whisky - have you ever tried some of the Irish stuff? It is that rough it will strip the chrome linings from barrels!

I was given a glass of Pochine once and was amazed at how smooth it was. At the other end of the scale I was given a bottle of 'dollar rum' from Grenada which is a clear liquid in a bottle without a label. It was worse than Stroh rum......
