I took the dive and stockpiled on the stuff we either use the most or could save the most on, I bought most of my brass and bullets while we were in the US, brought 114Kg of luggage back in February with bullets and brass being about half of the weight!. Shame we can't bring powder back as 8lb of Varget works out at £12/lb even with the current exchange rate!.
There's room for all Gods creatures, next to the mash and gravy :)

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Tack, I've seen a copy of my mate's trade price list from another retailer/importer and yes, it could be construed as that! Likewise, another mate ordered a rifle from a retailer at considerably less than what he'd been quoted from elsewhere. He asked the dealer if the rifle was a grey import because of the price and he was told that it wasn't, it was a genuine UK import but he can't account for what others charge....

could someone please tell me why moderators have to be on your license? at worst they could be used as an inefficient club! and they are fitted to one of the most tightly regulated things in the uk ? and why have to lock them in a cabinet? crazy!
and don't get me started on 'expanding' ammo! why should a small piece of lead and copper have the same status as a loaded round , some with some without a plastic tip ? it all just makes no sense ?
its almost as if the authorities are trying to make it difficult to understand and comply thereby making it easier to control us ?

Not sure I could justify the extra cost in baggage allowance to bring back loads of bullets, however... depending on whats available at what costs, it might benefit me to pay the excess baggage and bring back what I can bullet wise rather than pay double/triple when i get back here...

Nope, thanks to ITAR powder, primers and complete ammunition need an export license to get them out of the US. Bullets, the 2000 Nosler .30s saved me better than £200 on UK prices. Factor in the savings for a progressive press, 1000 9mm plated bullets, 500 .44 & 300 9mm Starline brass cases, dies, cleaning fluids etc. etc. and the £300 I saved on a Sightron 8-32x56 scope and it paid for the flights!.

Legally you're supposed to get a licence from the US State Department in order to export bullet & brass (& optics, iron sights, trigger assemblies.....) but I've had no issues even when the TSA has opened & inspected my luggage.
I wish I could bring back powder; bought 4lb of Red Dot for $68 & 3,000 large pistol primers for $72 - that's about a third of what they'd cost here.
I know we're a smaller market & VAT is 20% against 7% sales tax in NM but UK prices are bloody outrageous. :cool2:
