I used to use slips and feeler gauges which is such a hassle, I would end up trapping them or faffing around trying to find the right sizes and then having them slip out (no pun intended)

A patent on this has been considered but is not an option for a variety of reasons.

I think the next stage is build a handful of the things to confirm the build process and level of accuracy and see what the market thinks, no point churning out a few hundred of the things to have them sit in a box.

Fantastic idea simple and very effective, what about inserting a bar magnet and a strip of steel to hold it together

Now that is an idea however to be strong enough to hold them together might make the operation awkward as they need to slide. Ah!A rare earth magnet and button the back could work, I will have a try as I have some in the Shed. :goodjob:

Christel and I have been discussing how to keep them together, the solution needs to be easy to use and without tools or complex machining and the magnets may be the job. best I had come up with was a short length of black para-cord inserted into the fat ends of the wedges to hold them together.

David,

Dovetail slide , slot and stud. Go on you know you want to. Though lots of extra work. I'm up for set of whatever the final design is.

Not on this version, that is the plan for the morning. I have made three sets so far and the one in the picture is not the optimal design. It took a while to get the angle ratio right as well to give the range of adjustment I wanted for our rifles.

Tomorrow I will confirm a couple of ideas I have and then start building a few 8-)

Rather than para cord, nylon covered bird wire is ideal. Springy, light, tough, difficult to kink, cheap and readily available. I'll show you some next time.

So Tim, another mechanical excuse removed?
