You can buy ammo in the USA if you have a hunting licence. I bought an Alaska hunting licence (the cheapest available in the US) and that then allows aliens to buy ammo from a regular store
Must just be certain States that do that, over the years I've bought ammo all over the place and despite my Scottish accent I have never been asked for ID or for any type of hunting licence. Just saying.

Porcupine, I've never been asked for ID in the 25 years I've been here. Never been asked in any other State I've been to either. Hell I can even remember when California had pretty good gun and ammo laws. How times change and not always for the better.

In DK I did offer ID once whilst purchasing ammunition but these days I am neither asked nor do I offer. They also speak flawless English and I suppose there is an assumption that if I am a Brit asking for ammunition in Denmark I must be entitled to it... (A shrug emoticon would be handy at this point)
