Always wanted a Mause- err, I mean Springfield. Always fancied an M1903A1, but I wouldn't turn down an A3 either.

Love it,very nice rifle,and a very nice condition too. I've the p17 I love it but after shooting one of yours I quickly changed my mind,the p17 is real heavy,you can see why the troops favoured the 1903,and hence why the p17 dissapeared from mainstream issue so quickly.......well done,good luck with the bayonet!

P.s. If you get a new sling,soak it in used motor oil for 3 months then dry it out (carefully) it will look old and be so supple and nice u won't believe it!

Used motor oil contains components that are potential skin cancer hazards following prolonged and repeated contact. The concentration of these components increases over the service life of the motor oil.

sign01. Cancer! Ide best chuck it then! That's what the guy I bought the sling off at the phoenix arms fair said to do!........the harmful effects never occurred to me, I only shoot it twice a year! Come with me sadler you can help me get my money back!

I'll be at this years Phoenix, all being well...but not sure if I will have the new M1907 sling fittings in time to have any with me!

Very nice rifle and excellent shooting! The 03A3s are great shooters as the rear sight can actually be used by somone without the eyes of a 21 year old unlike say the 03! It was funny when I was growing up and interested in military firearms, the Smith Corona got no love due to not being made by a 'real' gun company. Everyone wanted Remingtons. Now the collectors around here swoon for a SC due the relatively few made compared to the Remington. I've found the Remington production to be a bit better finished. They all shoot very well. I have a Remington 03A3 and a Springfield 03 and the A3 is much easier to shoot!

Newly aquired rifle from Convict-Keeper, been looking for one for a while, took to Bisley on Saturday, 200yds 50 rounds all on target with several v bulls...Well happy, thanks CK, I will look after it..

Yep it is a nice rifle, I saw it in the 'flesh' with bnz41 at Bisley, he did well. :goodjob: :goodjob:

They were quite rare when I first started looking for one 10 years ago but there seems to be quite a few out there now fetching quite high prices. :cool2: :cool2:

They shoot very well and I have had good results with my 1903A3 at 600 yds even with the standard iron sights. Worth homeloading the 30-06 round as factory is pretty expensive. I use a 150gn HPBT Hornady bullet over 48 gns of A4064 which chrono's at around 2850 ft/s.

I have the bayonet which also fits the Garand and the M1917. They can be quite cheap but watch out for the Korean War era versions, the grips are different in design to the pre WW2 and those made during the war. I'll post a photo' of the bayonet tomorrow.

One of the best places to get hold of the correct bayonet is The War and Peace show at Beltring in Kent during July, I've seen loads from WW2, the nomenclature for the knife is Bayonet, M1. Some were cut down to 10" blades from the 16" M1905 bayonet. You can see the difference in the way the blood groove ends on the shortened blade when compared with WW2 New Manufacture.
