I can remember reading in a news paper a few years ago, about a chap who wrote a recipe book for road kill ha ha nutter.
I would have to agree with ovenpaa, to close to our trusty companions i think. What about the good old english mole? or ferret maybe?

I bet Bear Grills would have a chew

Oscar Wilde notoriously described fox hunting as "The unspeakable in persuit of the inedible"

Maybe he had tried fox!

Perhaps I should make the effort to read one of his books some day.

Talking of Moles I remember walking up towards Kinder Scout in the Peak one cold windy morning in near horizontal sleet, out of the gloom appeared a barbed wire fence with things on it. Closer examination revealed over 30 dead moles hung from the fence, I assume it was some kind of macabre warning to other moles, thing is I was always told they were nearly blind and the moles were hung from the top of the fence, neatly hooked over the barbs.

More than likely the local "Mole-Catcher" justifying his wages.

I would definately try it once. If it tasted ok and there was no risk of TB (like there is with badger), then yes.

Apparently hedgehog is a good one. make a ball of it with clay and cook on an open fire for an hour then just crack the clay and it pulls off all the spines. Easy meal.
