I always find it amazing that when everyone was banging at each other with large-calibre, single shot breech-loaders, the Swiss had a small-bore, magazine-fed, bolt action rifle. :good:
The Swiss didn't stay in the lead of the arms race for long though. The very year of this massacre, 1871, three brothers sold their design for a magazine-fed bolt action rifle to the Prussian military. Their surname was Mauser.
