Just tried to remove the extractor pin but it won't budge. Didn't want to force it too much but I did involve a hammer in my operation and failed. Just came back to the laptop to check I'm swearing at the correct pin :)

There's three roll pins in the bolt. One to hold the rear half of the firing pin, one to retain the front half of the firing pin and the roll pin that holds the extractor and spring.

Just out of interest, take some needle nose pliers and holding the extractor claw in the pliers, can you move it away from the bolt face? Does it spring back? If so, spring is good. Again hold the claw, can you pull it forward "out of the bolt"? If not, spring still attached. Then the problem may just be a worn extractor claw. Either way though, it's still got to come out. They are tight. Bathe the bolt for a couple of days in WD40..... It should drive out then!

The extractor just moves freely to/from the bolt with no spring but it doesn't pull out. I'm away until next weekend but will order the part and try the WD40 on Friday.

I'd hazzard the extractor spring in broken, with perhaps a little still attached to the extractor preventing movement forward.

I recently had a Marlin bolt sitting in a bath of WD40 for almost 5 days and still have to give it some real welly to drive it out......

haha I'll need a beer to celebrate when it finally comes out by the sounds of it

Update: I've ordered the part from marlinspares.com and should hopefully get it fitted this weekend. fingers crossed.

Easy enough job with normal tools?

My mates step dad manage to sort it with the right tools and skill . I did manage to identify the broken part though... Thanks to you guys :) the extractor spring was broken.
