Thanks for the replies and ideas , at least I have some time to sort it out and make the transision when needed .

I'm right handed but left eye dominant, not really a problem other for clays which when i'm shooting i clag a piece of tape over my left lense (pupil sized) to force my right eye to do most of the work, but still retain peripheral vision which you don't get if you close your eye.

With practical shotgun (PSG) and gallery rifle (GR) comps you frequently have to shoot 'weak shouldered' which i don't particularly like, and has been mentioned it feels like someone else is in control of the gun!? It's just something you have to do to compete in these sorts of competitions but i'll admit its deeply unpleasant doing it with my gallery rifle as the ejection port is huge and it sprays loads of crap right in my face (shooting glasses essential! :? )

Aye, many good replies to a difficult question. I would have thought in the event of rifle/bolt failure, no matter which shoulder or right or left bolt configuration, you might be in some danger of injury. Luckily in 50 years of our sport, the only GUNS I have seen after a failure have been caused by operator error, loose choke, overloaded ammo (home load) and the like, not a material failure of the gun itself.
