I am surprised they issued the certificate with out a gun safe being installed.
For an SGC, there is no requirement to have a safe installed... in theory. You don't have to own a shotgun to have an SGC, you could have it just to enable you to borrow one. But I guess the FEO was confident of OP's ability to install it properly so didn't feel the need to inspect it after install.

So yesterday the shotgun license arrive. The form was submitted on the evening of the 5th of October and 19 days later the license arrived.
Cannot say how impressed I am with how quickly this all happened.
I have the cabinet installed and going shopping this weekend for a gun.
Your thread title is correct - a CERTIFICATE not as you later refer to licence.
Shoppin for A guns, surely that should read "gun
s"
I should have said certificate and apologise for that.
You are correct and I should have said guns, not singular

I forgot to mention that when the FAO visited, we agreed on the location for where the safe would be installed. I bought the safe from my local dealer and had to wait for it to arrive, then it was installed.
Photos were sent to the FAO to show the safe installed.
