I've always had to send in my cert.when I have disposed of a gun but I wanted to keep the slot open. Emails accepted for purchases and I don't send the cert in.

Grampian is different - apply for variation first, then sell the rifle and notify them once it's sold, via post, fax or e-mail (no requirement to send FAC in).

CK,
Best thing to do, is ask your Force what they want. Each one seems to be slightly different in procedure.

if i handnt heard back I i would send email after email until i get a reply, OR telephone to see if they had updated their files
I havent had any probs yet though, in fact L & B prefer email. I also keep the copies of the sent/ recieved ones just incase
never sent the cert in though when a gun disposed of though. only for variation purposes
regards
douglas

Email is accepted by our FEO and you get a reply mail saying something along the lines of please accept this mail as confirmation of receipt if you are advising us of a firearm sale. Don't forget if you do not apply for a variation at the time you loose your slot
