The rifle is on zero now so I will see how it goes until we get back to the UK.
Ovenpaa,

The Inmeprial method of welding and the analogic one of glueing certanily does not suit your engineering logic LOL....

Ernst Apel has severat types of mounts and it would be useful to know which one fitting it is?.

As you say the scops moved backwards, I do presume it is a Weave/rPicatiny or a dovetail profile?

One solution is to have a loceating pin preferably at the rear mount fixed into the base, protruding a few millimetres and entering in a hole drilled in the bottom of the mount itself. Many mounts have this hole already.

Or use a clamp screwing on the base at rear of the rear mount? This is simply clamped on the base and add extra resistance to the scope fitting. Added advantage; if you have to remove the scope, it will always return on the sae positon. Mouns manifacturers cataogues hos tose clamps.

Simplest perhaps: drill and tap a hole in the base, just at rear of the reat mount location, in which you will screw a Allen capscrew whose head will also act as a stop....

I agree Robert, a tapped post in one of the rails will act as a physical stop and ensure the rings are always reurned to the same location and it is a simple enough job as well. Something to look at when we return home.
