Thanks for the messages guys....sadly my sister died from the effects of the stroke and existing pulmonery disease.
My sister was divorced and had no kids.....we had a very simple funeral service which we think she would have appreciated as she hated fuss.......the whole service was lifted by an elderly lady who, when the vicar started his piece, said in a very loud voice "What is he mumbling about, why dosent he speak up?"....I think my sister would have a good laugh at that.

Without sounding like a shameful plug, I have videos of my Low turret K98 with 6x Zeiss Zielsech at 600 yards grouping with different ammo , shoots fine.
And at Barton from 1000 I have "had good days" and some not so good. When you are shooting to next guys with newer target guns you sometimes have to step back and ask have I done what the rifle was designed to do, most of the time it is yes. If you want one for history and to accept that it will probably wont outshoot your mate with an AI, then they are great, go for it , as BNZ said be careful on what you put your money down on.
As for the ZF41 Sharpshooter , I actually have one on its way to me, an K98 AR 42 with JVE marked Type 1 Zf41 scope and mount with inspection stamp. But going by the 1.bowl and the small sight picture they are not really "sniper guns" and I would not try it at 1000 (Although I may one day :>) But 100 - 300 / 600 I would guess okay for getting in the black at least, depends how good you are

Appreciate the comments about made up examples, it is just like the Mosin Nagants really and, increasingly, No4Ts.
I had a Nagant with a PU scope many years ago when the were really dirt cheap, could not hit the proverbial barn door with it until I had stripped it down, bedded it, mounted the scope properly (it was way out) and then it shot like a dream, especially with handloads. Trigger was always crap though. Present one with a PE scope is spot on.
BNZ41....thanks for the invite but will be unable to get to Bisley any weekends for some time, my sister in Devon has had a massive stroke and we are visiting her each weekend for the forseeable........
"BNZ41" presumably refers to Steyr-Daimler-Puch or Steyr-Oberdonau and the Z41 "marksmans" scope.....?
A link from an other Forum. Evn if in frogspik, hope it will be og interest?

If so, how does the ZF41 compare to the more standard scope set-up?
