Although I have now run out of MTM Boxes and am having to find new and more compact ways of storing rounds to fill my ammo safes to ticket capacity...!

Little known fact #354.......Dove soap boxes hold 15 rounds of 7.62x54r perfectly.

You have missed out the most important consideration. Do you put the rounds in the box primer up or bullet up?

In the MTM Boxes I've got my 7.62x54r will only go in one way......primer up because of the rim.

i find it's easier to get them out head up, than bullet up. as snayperskaya says though, a lot of my calibers I have no choice, so they all go the same way.
