Ruger American Rifle Predator

Re: Ruger American Rifle Predator
I should add of those who've received them, there are some references to this model on the 6.5 Grendel forum, but so far nothing much on actual performance, posts being mostly about supply times. It has been said on this forum though that those who've received an MTR, whether rimfire or centrefire, are impressed by their triggers. Unlike most 527s there isn't a set model - which 6.5 Grendel members apparently universally dislike - rather a conventional one based on those of the 457 / 557 models which are crisp and can be adjusted down to (it's claimed in one post) 0.9lb pull weight, although most others say ~2lb

Providing the stock chosen is good, they apparently shoot well. Many of the videos and other reviews use factory ammunition and it's pot luck if your Grendel likes these cartridges. This isn't a 308 type cartridge that accepts most half decent ammunition. It's a fussy eater so appreciates a handloader willing to find the bullets it likes and the powders / charges that work with them. Since it's so easy to shoot and has a better than 308 Win barrel life, that's not necessarily a downside.
Remember it is a factory rifle though. When you can get new ones at £599-700 in plastic stocks and it has gone through two importers / distributors' hands (Japan to LSI which stocks them up, Kansas to Highland Outdoors, Leics) and a retailer before it gets to the buyer all of whom make a margin, these Japanese made barrelled actions aren't in Sauer or Sako territory, nor for that matter are they anywhere near Savage, Remington or Ruger prices these days.
