I've never had any joy with PPU bullets. Variances between batches is the probable cause, my cursory study discovered. And at only three quid cheaper than Sierras, that's 300 pennies well worth the consistency!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Those look to be worth trying, will stick an order and see what my Bradley makes of them. But will polish the feed ramps too.Sim G wrote:Sierra do a FMJBT bullet. 55gns with a cannelure. What twist rate is the barrel?
Sierra TMK in 77gr is an excellent bullet loaded to mag-length in my "AR". 69gr TMK also available. The 73gr ELD-M also loads to mag length, again with a polymer tip. I haven't been able to find any 77gr PPU match; the importer seems unsure when they'll be in stock.
The small HPBT of the SMK shouldn't cause feed problems. Solve the feed problem as above.

Seems like there is something else wrong with the 55gn rem ammo. Are they match bullets or cheap FMJ?

Why aye! All day long! the US military in their M196 tracer, use a 56gn bullet out of a 1 in 7" twist.

It sounds like the ammunition is at fault then.

They're OK at 200 yards but don't seem to stabilise at 100 yards. I had a few go through the target sideways.
