Re: What powder are you using for 223
I've used the following powders for 223 with good results:
Ramshot Tac for 52gr to 69gr.
RS40 for 52gr to 69gr (works better for 52gr).
RS50 for 69gr.
Attached picture shows RS40 at max load. Good ten shot group and respectable velocity SD, but the primers are catering on these max loads. I only see this for max RS40 loads.

N140 for 77g and 55g. I've even used Alliant 2400 for 55g and yes 14g of 2400 is one of their listed loads. It gives a soft shooting round.

Now there is a fine example of irresponsible handloading advice if ever there was one.Pete wrote:A good dose of RS 52 + 80grain SMK's =![]()

Sorry................RS 52 works really well with 80 grain Sierra SMK's in my rifle, but always remember, my load (which I'm not going to tell you) might be unsafe in your rifle, so always follow the manufacturers advice in their loading manual.

Use N140 with 69gr SMK's, too here.
As Blackstuff, I use N140 so I can use 1 powder for both .223 and .308
I moved to N140 from Varget.

Re: What powder are you using for 223
I can see I need to get some n140....
I used to use H335 for both .223 and .308, then when that got banned i went to Ramshot.. Wildboar for .308 and Tac for .223, so yes, 1 powder for both would be good...
