It's not a flash hider, it is a compensator. The important distinction is although the two items may look similar, a flash hider is a licensed item the same as a moderator, according to the strict interpretation of the law. A compensator is off ticket.

As to whether it comes off, it does indeed come off if the muzzle hasn't been welded. Some of the "California spec" 522s had their compensators welded onto the muzzle and those can't come off. But it will be easy to know if you have one of those because you will see evidence of the weld.

its a solidly built .22 semi auto, if you use it hard stuff may break, not a unique ability in the market, the upper is solid metal, the barrel is good, the action works and fires/cycles everything I throw at it, is it an AR ? nope, it was never meant to be, the S&W model is a true copy of an AR from the point of controls, so if that is what you want then thats the one to go for, (bits break on them as well) I can only go from my experience with the Sig, it has been accurate and solid in use, mine is a later model after they fixed the issue with the bolt, and has been very good, the mags I have are sig branded and feed perfectly (yes they wobble in the well, but that is design not manufacturing faults)
