Are you serious?

Yes we are the head of the case is the base, the bullet is just called a bullet.

Obviously you haven't read widely, intelligently or deeply on the subject then.

Just because other people revel in a sloppy attitude to reloading is no reason for you emulate them

Some people just don't have the right attitude to reload safely, if it was just your face and fingers that was at risk then I wouldn't bother but there will no doubt be other people beside you and you have responsibility to reload safely for them as well.

Getting the basics right at the start is the foundation for building safe reloading practices and experience.

You joined this forum seeking help on reloading, that is what I was trying to do, help you.

But the "cannot be told" attitude that you have will not help you to learn, shooting and reloading is a serious game and should not be regarded flippantly.

It is something that comes up fairly often, Yes, we probably did know what you were referring to, but that isn't always so. It is something that needs fixing. shops do not help, and it proves the point, sometimes shops are just retailers, and do not know details on what they are selling you (like asking someone in B&Q what size/type of bolt is best for your task) and so should not be used as a defense to carry on mis-naming items.

why do you need to call it a bullet head? you yourself said a cartridge is the completed item of case, bullet, powder and primer.

it's like referring to LEGO as legos. it really gets some peoples backs up, and is wrong.

You have an excellent aid in the Lyman Book.

I have just checked my copy and on P.45 it clearly shows the head of the case.

Nowhere can I see bullets being referred to as "heads" in that manual.

This is beginning to creep into some current UK shooting magazines. I see whole articles in "Rifle Shooter" now that refer to bullets as "projectiles". Whilst not exactly incorrect, why don't they just call a bullet a bullet.

In the current vernacular it is "fake" reloading advice.

The internet is awash with it.

The head is the base of the case. The bullet is the bit that goes down the barrel when it goes bang. The correct term is bullet.

Don't be offended by any comments you receive regarding your questions. Some people can be a bit nit-picky regarding terminology, but on the whole you will find all the members to be friendly and helpful. Now I'm just out to try and get some head.....

Its the tone of some answers on this thread that really make the inexperienced like me think twice before asking questions. How about we think about the tone of response before hitting submit. You can be right, but you can also be an ass when you're being right.
