Unfortunately, not available in .45 Colt. I believe these were all .38 Special only (short chamber, no .375 in them)
Ballistol wrote:Mine is also in.45LC, and is exremely accurate using Trail Boss. If i had one criticism, it it that previously mentioned, in that obturation isn’t great and the subsequent leakage does require a bit more cleaning. This of course isn’t much of a problem with the Marlin action which is very easy to strip.
I had the same problem and tried lots of things - oversized bullets, heavy crimp, heavier powder loads and always had a bit of blowback. Solution for me was to raise the die and just "neck" size the case.

Kev,

They were generally available in .38, but also .45LC

I know, I’ve got one :-)

Very nice! :) One to hang on to (unless you want to sell it to me! :D )
Were there any changes from the standard 1984 other than an octagonal barrel, nicer furniture and better fit & finish?

Kev.

Kev,

I believe they were specifically aimed at the Cowboy Action shooting market, and were allegedly tricked and slicked at the factory. As well as having it drilled to allow scope or iron sight use, I fitted a single piece firing pin and trigger happy kit and it shoots superbly. I was initially attracted by the colours of the case hardened action and wanted one of the dedicated 38 special models but couldn’t find one. I stumbled on the .45 LC and bought it on impulse, as it happens it probably turned out for the best as the bigger hole in the target has definitely allowed me to score up a number of times in competition.
Recoil is negligible, and I will continue to use Trail Boss and 250g RNFP until my supply runs out, which should be a long time.

I had a yellowboy in 45colt and it was very well made and very accurate - probably more so than the marlins I have owned.
It was comparable to my marlin for speed of loading.
The Winchester just looks all wrong with a scope on it:

ALL lever actions look wrong with a scope on!!!

I've had my Marlin 1895CS .357 for over 20 years... it was the first rifle i bought with my Pistol compo money... but I'd never shot it without a red dot or scope on.

That was until a month ago when the Club started an Underlever summer league, to be shot iron sighted... I have to say I'm quite enjoying shooting it iron sighted and even suprising myself with the group sizes (they're quite small... just not always in the right place on the target!)

(I know this is a bit of a thread resurrection, but I remembered it from a couple of weeks ago, and I had to re-read it as i'm thinking about a .45LC)

I love my Uberti 1873 Comp in .45LC..... (will be even better when it comes back from A&A ;) )

I can still do OK with it with my crap eyes using the iron sights at the 10m-25m ranges we shoot gallery.

Can't fit optics to a '73 anyway :good:
