would machining that step flat, then drill a hole down, and insert a hardened pin into that (ala home made punches etc) not make for a better design? what sort of dia are we looking at?safetyfirst wrote:Mine broke at the 90 degree step every single time.
well as long as you have around 1mm of side wall I would think it would be good enough. the tailstock on my lathe isn't great atm (lathe project is taking a backseat til I actually can think of stuff to make and get some decent size material - like some 3" plastics, anyway), but for the accuracy needed i reckon a face cleanup and then chuck it in a decent drill press would get a good enough result.safetyfirst wrote:Nice idea.
