Re: Post by Alan108 (Mr P of Kent).
As the proprietor of The Reigate Arms Co I feel I must reply and set out the true facts.
Mr Alan P visited my shop on the 24th JUNE 2011 in response to an advert he had seen for a Ruger 10/22 rifle. This rifle was advertised at £239-00.
After close inspection a deal was struck for Mr P to buy the rifle for £200-00 cash and I was to hold the rifle in storage until Mr P obtained a variation on his FAC.
On or just a few days before 21st JULY 2011 Mr P telephoned to say he no longer wanted the rifle and demanded a refund. At the time I pointed out that just because he had changed his mind he was not entitled to an automatic refund. I operate to the sale of goods recommendations as set out by BASC. This can be view on the BASC website. The document states, second line from the bottom on page 2 that you have no right to a refund if you simply change your mind.
However wishing to be as helpful as possible I told him I would re-advertise the rifle and when sold would forward him payment less our reasonable handling fee’s. The rifle was re-sold for a greater price than Mr P had paid for it and a payment of £220-00 was sent to Mr P in early SEPT 2011 (That’s a £20-00 profit for Mr P)!
I would now like to refer to the matter of the Sporting Gun Magazine, Sept 2011 Edition. There is no article or letter or in fact anything relating to The Reigate Arms Co in this addition, or any other addition for that matter. This can be checked by speaking to Mary Brendan in the editorial department of the Sporting Gun Magazine on 01780 485370.
I have worked very hard over the years to provide as best a service as possible for my customers. Yes I have had a few rare problems with the odd gun as all dealers have, after all dealers only sell guns they don’t make them! I always aim to put things right and am most offended by the innuendoes and lack of the facts set out in this post.
I trust this now sets the record straight and I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my many happy customers for their business over the years.

Stephen,
Thank you for setting the record straight. I have edited your post and removed the surname of your customer.
