As stated, anything that you reload must come in under the authorised limits on your FAC... so just putting down say 40 to allow for a couple of boxes of factory will not cut the mustard.

Tha's useful to know. I will almost certainly be buying ammunition for the first months and ongoing from time to time when I don't have time to reload (I run a seasonal business and May - September is extremely hectic) so I have requested 300 rounds to hold for each of the centre fire calibres I am applying for.

My application is all ready to go now. Just awaiting formal confirmation from my club of my full membership. I've had a shotgun ticket for decades so I am hoping I won't have too many problems.

If you have no ammunition allowance then you cannot hold any ammunition, if you do have an allowance then you cannot keep any more than that allowance, handloaded or purchased.
