For success with cast bullets you really need to cast your own, there are no volume commercial bullets available in this country that are of any use unless you happen to have a gun that fits the commercial bullets which are invariably too small and too hard with poor quality ineffective lube.

Thanks for the help and advice....
Now see if I can get hold of a batch of .431 bullets and see what the results are.

Don't beat yourself up over it. If the likes of Henry Kranks, Sportsman GC and several other gun shops/suppliers can get away with calling them heads I think you can be forgiven.

check the box of bullets are not for the 44-40 calibre. I was once given these by mistake and I could tell that they were a smaller diameter than .44 magnum bullets

??? 44-40 and 44 mag take the same diameter of bullet.

44 spl and mag = .429" dia

All my 44-40 and 44 Spec/Mag guns have all used 0.430" soft lead bullets for all velocities pertinent to the calibre with excellent effect.
