Do you mean the opening of the bolt face? As this is invariably part of a re-barrel job the rifle will have to be submitted for proof at the end where the whole thing is checked over.Blackstuff wrote:Simply out of idle curiosity, what's the paperwork like for this?
I typically machine bolt faces destined to be donor actions for semi-custom builds, however a customer can also ask that his .223 T3 be re-barrelled in say 6,5x47Lapua so he would transfer the gun to his RFD, apply for a 1:1 if necessary. The bolt face is then opened, a new barrel fitted, possibly a new stock, Cerakote and so for a semi-custom build. The rifle is then submitted for proof and when finished is signed onto the FAC as a new acquisition albeit with the same serial as before.Blackstuff wrote:More as in changing the 'calibre' of pressure bearing parts/firearms licensing? Is the whole gun taken in as its original calibre and then signed back over as a 'new' gun of a different calibre on the persons FAC or are the parts done individually etc
