Did the shell holder come with the deluxe die set? I have a few of these die sets and I have known the supplied shell holder to be completely wrong for the die caliber.

I've had the same problem using RCBS shell holders. I just use the No. 3 instead of the No. 2 for cases with tight heads.

Thanks for the offers gents, I may take you up on them when I get to loading on a larger scale. As i'm only doing 50rds I can grin and bear it for now.
NS - It was the shell holder that came with the die set and it is stamped #2 but I suppose the wrong sized holder could be stamped with the wrong number...
Dromia - I am partial to a bit of Dremeling, in this case (no pun intended) though its not the rim thickness that is the issue, its the case thickness within the extractor groove, there are witness marks on the case where each side of the shell holder has scored the brass. This is an area of the shell holder which is easier to work on though so this may be the best solution
