Those of a more 'senior' age may well remember the DBD34 with the RRT2 gearbox (Youngsters and non motor bike types can google it) There was a lovely cartoon of an elderly chap just making the finishing touches to an engine rebuild on a DBD34 in his garage and behind him are two youngsters sniggering whilst one is tossing a spare valve collet on the floor under the workbench. Also, does the barrel tilt to lock like on a true 1911 or is it fixed like a Walther/Makarov/Buckmark etc?

I'm sure the GSG 1911 is a straight blowback, so no need for a Browning link to unlock the barrel and slide during cycling.

Reading some of the reviews of the GSG 1911 in the US, they are very quickly developing an excellent reputation!

Lovely!!! We want a full range report. Reports elsewhere suggest that they are the muts nuts and half the price of a Low Mill Range 1911. Oooorah!

The barrel is fixed, good job really as it is 12" long! Feeds absolutely anything and is a blast to shoot, once in your hand you forget the bar and the long barrel as the weight is almost identical overall to a 45ACP 1911! I bought five and only had mine left after 48 hours!! Lots of harmless fun, there will be a review in Target Shooter in the near future as well.

Well, it was worth taking the evening off :)

Even though I shoot and own rifles I don't have it running through my veins like Bnz so it was good to have a new experience. Apart from owning a black powder pistol for a while, I had never shot a "proper" pistol.

It certainly got some admiring looks at our club with comments about how we got it past our FLO. (He did queery it but when he was told what .22 pistol it was he was more than happy as he liked it himself).

Bnz had first go. Loaded 10 rounds, mag in, slide release lever pressed, round loaded, off he went. First 10 fired without support, next 10 with. All 20 rounds at least hit the target but it was shooting to the right.

A quick adjustment to the sight with the tool supplied and it was my turn.

I fired supported just because it felt right. 10 rounds, lovely. I think it could get addictive :)

We had no problems apart from one round that refused to go off.

Gets a bit chilly and damp as it is a Victorian Fort, a FBUK hoodie is ideal.

Shared target. 30 rounds fired, 20 before adjustment, 10 after.


Stripped ready for cleaning. .22 cleaning rod doesn't fit so Otis cleaning kit came in handy.





Looking forward to getting to grips with this little beauty.

Thanks for the report Bobob, it certainly looks like fun, I had a good look at them when we were at Newark, they seem very nicely made and are sensibly priced and with the longer barrel you should see reasonable accuracy with them.

Nice range as well, I sometimes wish we had a 25/50m range near us that was accessible.

Green with envy , that looks like it will be fun
