Re: Portable rifle maintenance kit.
the idea of pocket portability is laughable when ure carryin a gert big rifle! surely uve everything u need in the car? including a better workstation? if ure 30 miles from ure hunting lodge in northern canada i can see the sense in it,but for range work? ??? if u need a tool that badly if somethings gone wrong at the range aftrr uve prepared for the range date, then i put it to u that the tools ule need aint in that kit!! but as said, good if ure out hunting.

Re: Portable rifle maintenance kit.
If you have a problem in the middle of a competition and your tools are in the car (potentially 300 yards away) then you're out of that competition (and if that competition is part of an Agg or stage, you've potentially blown a whole meeting, which could be the highlight of a whole season). Hence I keep basic tools on the point, and spares and additional tools in the bag by my feet (per previous thread).the running man wrote:surely uve everything u need in the car?

I can certainly think of common situations where the car is at least 300 yards away, besides which the rules may dictate that you can't leave the point to make repairs.the running man wrote:and ure car aint that far away is it?
I disagree. Lots of issues can be handled with basic tools, and such things are far more common than catastrophic problems.the running man wrote:but if things go wrong on the point, then they are prob gonna be lotus.

I would agree with Rox, many issues on the firing point can be resolved with the very basic of tools and facilities plus a pleasant smile.

No, I don't think I said that or anything like it. I said that in competition the only option I have are the tools that I can carry to the point, so there is a need for light and portable tools (in some disciplines).the running man wrote:so,this kit is entirely comprehensive for all ure firearm failure needs?
I'm not about to give up if a small problem arisies that would otherwise blow me out of a competition for which I might have prepared for all year, taken a week of unpaid leave, spent hundreds in entry fees, thousands in training costs etc etc.
