I will take a look at the link for Rimfire magic. As for my budget it would be at the lower end , basically the cheapest decent rifle that's not crap or unreliable if such a thing exists .

That's a really good idea, just a shame if its not up to the level of use a UK spec AR would subject it too.

Pity there's not one for the S&W 15-22

I picked up the Hera Arms left side charger more than a year ago and it's been stunning so far. I don't have to move my head when shooting and there's no sign of weakness yet - I haven't exactly been gentle with it either. The only problem is that I'm not sure they're still selling them. They do have a couple of vids on youtube though, so perhaps that's not the case now.

How does that work then, do you have a recess in your head to allow the charging handle to extend fully back?

Haha, I guess it's just down to the way Iv'e got everything set-up. The charger remains very close to the stock throughout the pull, so it either doesn't reach my chin or perhaps it's going under the cheek riser.

Wonder how one of these would fair on the circuit Dave .... Reliability wise ONLY
I've seen quite a few tugging on their bolt knobs during a fast fire stage
