Have you stripped the BCG and made sure there's no gas rings that might slow the manual cycling?

I'd have a look for the gas rings if I knew what they were. I notice a lot of side to side movement on the magazine which moves the point of the bullet up and down but that is probably normal. I have tried to smooth out the ramp and aperture and it has helped but I think I'll need to do a bit more sanding. Meantime I'll find out about the gas rings.

If this is a new rifle can you not return it to the supplier?

No this rifle is quite old so it's not an option. I can live with slight scores on the bullet head. The reason the Hornady cycles better is that it has a ballistic tip and the ogive is much steeper so it doesn't scrape as much on the lug cutout. I'm curious though has nobody seen scrapes on their AR15 bullets? It seems to me that it's hard to avoid as the ramp feeds the bullet straight into the cut-out and couldn't avoid marking the bullet head.

Have you tried more than one magazine?

I've run snap caps through my straight pull for dry fire practice and no significant damage on the tips from chambering.

Reason I ask some years ago I had a Decade Corp AR-15/M4 Rifle built on standard mil-spec upper and lower with a standard T-handle rear charger, I had the same issue, to correct the problem I had the chamber area worked on by SGC they sorted it from then on no marks on the bullets and smooth feeding of every round.

I have one of those and also seem to have the same issue. I'll definitely be looking for a similar fix now, .

I also had a Decade M4 for a while... (traded it in for the ill-fated L1A1!!), but i had no problems with it feeding factory or handloads.

Maybe it was BNZ's old one.. :-)

Hi Daryll,

My old one was sold to a member on here and I think he still has it, if I remember he camo painted it, unless the one you had was painted.
