From one of the gun trade comics, my club secretary has also said it was in the latest NRA rag, but I bin mine unopened upon getting it so cannot confirm exactly what it says in that hack pamphlet.

For all I know, it could be a licence but what we're talking about the cost for HO approved clubs.

Yes ooman, we understand that. We're making the point that certification / licensing is done for the benefit of the public, not the shooter (or their club), hence the public should pay, not the club. Full cost recovery is fine, if it is paid for by the right people and not foisted upon the law abiding shooter who gains nothing from it !

I know that bandit face but unfortunately those that govern and legislate for us chose to ignore it collaborated by those "national organisations who bend over to be royally shafted on our behalf" who refuse to pursue and argue it on our behalf so the end result is we get shafted both ways. By those against us and by those that purport to be for us.

I've just finished the HO approval for my club. It cost £84 but lasts for 5 years, so £16.80 per year.

That says that the HO licensing annual fee for clubs will be £123,000 per annum?
Where did you find that figure, Adam? I had a look at the various notes etc to do with the Policing and Crime bill but can't find it.

According to the HO the annual fee for clubs is £84.

Edit: BTW it's past the third reading and has moved on to the committee stage in the House of Lords scheduled for the 14/09.

It wasn't annual when I last did the renewal for our club some years ago, has it changed?
Sorry, my mistake. Didn't read the document properly.
Approval lasts for six years. Applications for renewal should be made on Form 124.
A fee, currently £84, is payable on renewal.

Your biggest problem is finding someone at the Home Office to communicate with! I submitted a form 124 in May ref renewal of Home Office cert..still waiting the final solution. I tried to contact the person who signed the various letters received from the HO...just an answerphone...I contacted the HO switchboard who informed me that the person who had written to me did not appear on his list..."could you put me through to anyone in the firearms Licensing dept?" "not unless you have the phone number"..
It then transpired that the name on the HO letter...double barrelled...quite appropriate ...was NOT the name by which this person was known at the HO...you could not make this up...also, the e mail address shown on the letters was also incorrect, so I have been telephoning and e mailing to no effect. Presumably someone at the HO has been wondering who the hell this person was! I have located on the HO website a telephone number for the Head of Department...my next call.
