But I checked the Guntrader website and saw that "Shooting Supplies" in Bromsgrove had a SGC LR 9mm in stock with a more expensive / better build so seeing as I was heading down to the Shooting Show at Stoneleigh it made sense to buy that one rather than wait however long and still travel 30 odd miles to my "local" RFD..... Anyway, I'm glad that I got a version with the ambi mag release as it works really well.
Another recommendation I will make is buy some Magpul 9mm "Glock" compatible magazines... they work great and are SO EASY to strip and clean compared to factory Glock magazines.
Mine does have a heavy buffer attached to the buffer spring. I believe they are made by SGC specifically for the 9mm Lever-release.
So does the rifle NEED the this heavy buffer in order to operate or can a standard carbine buffer work as well? Its just that SGC want £122 just for the extension tube/spring/buffer and on Brownells uk, you can get a stock assembly comprising of the stock, receiver extension tube, index plate, buffer, recoil spring and castle nut. All for £160.
I'm not sure if Southern Gun Company will actually sell you a gun without a buffer tube, spring and buffer as they are made to work together.
I actually wanted to change the take-down pin design on my 9mm LR.... ordered the pins and the correct mil-spec spanner from Brownells.... simple job right? err NO, the castle nut is bonded in place with super strength loctite or whatever... I gave up trying to undo the nut for fear of damaging the rifle... (there is another trick to replace the rear pin).

I was hoping to buy one of these compact stocks and fit it myself
http://www.brownells.co.uk/epages/UK.sf ... tID=491525
Do you think if I supplied them with the stock and tube they would just charge me for their specific LR spring and buffer?
Is it true that they are a bit more flexible these days in that you don't have spec all the parts from them alone, where as before you had to buy the rifle with all the parts supplied by them?

Hmmm the best thing to do is phone them up and ask.... I have found Bob to be very approachable and helpful.

You're supposed to grease the part of the bolt carrier that rides along/engages the trigger release mechanism

I don't have one anymore but at the time I was using graphite powder. Bit messy but it was what was recommended by big bad Bob.

Which is the colt pattern upper? Is there more than one option on the gun builder page?

If you go the gun builder thing you can choose from a list of options ie handguards, sights etc i just choose the front sight tower, delta ring with m4 carbine handguard and stock

Pick her yesterday very impressed especially the quality
Very accurate too
Interesting I have noticed that when shooting fast sometimes I push the lever release before the bolt goes all the way back even though I only ever push the lever release when I hear the bang
