Bet they don't investigate everyone that has an account with them.

next I suppose they will despatch health inspectors to any restaurants that use them for banking?

Of course not, this is just discrimination - with aa view to closing the account. Common in the USA!

Funny considering how corrupt Barclays is!

Livefast - you got it in one.

This activity has been going on for years, especially in the states. Somehow the corrupt bankers are sanctimonious enough to decide that some businesses and activities are NOT what they want to be linked to - seems money laundering, corruption, fraud and rate rigging etc is more acceptable than recreational shooting sports and associated clubs!

Most shooting clubs just shoot targets....would Barclays also object to an archery club? I have recently taken over as treasurer of a rifle club and two months later, I am still waiting for Barclays to change the signatories.
Perhaps the NRA could offer a banking service for all NRA affiliated clubs? Another solution might be a uk branch of a foreign bank. The money kept with the bank earns nothing in interest....must be an alternative.

Probably NOT, archery is not seen as "socially unacceptable...." It's guns these nasty POS's are against - allegedly. Businesses they see as "improper" get the boot, e.g premium rate services, adult entertainment / toys, anything to do with "polluting", that sort of thing....

They're bankers and criminals - so they are never to be trusted, ever!

here's what the banksters are up to in the USA...

Gun shops may not fit their "business model" ........I should hope that gun dealers are way more honest than any bank!

Further information from our treasurer after following up on this request, treasurer name redacted:
Today I contacted the Police Firearms Dept, for Staffs & West Mids. Spoke to F.A Police officer Brett Oakes, he said that
as far as they are concerned they don't mind the FAC copy being sent to Barclays.
The "Bank Compliance" is legal under banking regulations, and is to ensure that the Club account signatories, are officials of the club.

Here's what the NRA chap said. We can assure you that, we are all over this like a rash.
The NRA of Great Britain, Chief Executive contacted the Chief Executive of BARCLAYS BANK, and informed them that this practice
is not in the interests of safety.

if Barclays fail to remedy the situation, the NRA Chief Executive has also advised Barclays that:-

1. The NRA would advise all Clubs to move their Banking to another Bank.
2. The NRA would advise all individual members, if personally banking with Barclays, to change to another bank.
3. The NRA would advise individual members, who have business accounts with Barclays, to change to another bank.

that would amount to quite a few million accounts, both personal and business.

Finally, the NRA said, that to comply, we only need to supply a copy of the top page with no other information.
This would confirm the Secretary as one of the signatories. The NRA also advises that we personally visit our local
Branch of Barclays to Provide this copy of the top page, no emailing, no scanning, no photocopy, no post.

The person at Barclays who initiated this debacle, was [redacted], from Barclays Compliance team. We
should advise the local branch that we need confirmation that information has been received by said [redacted].
It is also my suggestion that if the club FAC needs to be presented, as ours has the secretary's home address on, this section should be removed, leaving only the name in the contact information box, however this is my own opinion and has not been suggested by the NRA or the Firearms Dept. But surely poses a security risk of giving out club members personal information.

Barclays staff name also redacted for security, lest anyone nefarious finds this thread and uses the name provided to try some phonecalls for themselves...
