Re: Brattonsound Titan RT -20
Just measured mine, and yes there is a height difference on the key holes. Ones 80cm from the ground and the others 71ish cm. Thinking more about it, I don't think they just turn the door upside down, I think they turn the whole thing upside down and then weld in any shelf or top box afterwards.Countryman wrote:Well that's a wonderful bodge!jmc67 wrote:I have a left and a right opening Brattonsound. They just turn the doors upside down as far as I can tell, as I have to turn the keys in opposite directions on each one. They're not right next to each other though so I've never checked the heights of the keyholes.
Can you have a look at the keyhole height on yours and let me know?
I've used Brattonsound for well over 20 years and "bodge" isn't something I ever associated with them.

Yeah, that's what I figured.jmc67 wrote:Just measured mine, and yes there is a height difference on the key holes. Ones 80cm from the ground and the others 71ish cm. Bugs me. I saw some lovely cabinets at the shooting show. I figured I would buy a brand I trust and trick it out to suit my individual needs. So I commissioned a bespoke housing to fit, bought alarms, carpet, felt and LED lights. Now I've waited 8 weeks for this delivery. I arranged to collect from the dealer but that went south as Brattonsound were late in production. Then the first delivery arrived after 6 weeks but TNT had played forklift football with them. Finally met the dealer half way yesterday, humped 150kgs of cabs into the house, opened the boxes, delighted in them being pristine........
Grrr!
Stiffly worded email to Brattonsound!
Re: Brattonsound Titan RT -20
Perhaps they do that for the Folks who don't know their left from right.
Re: Brattonsound Titan RT -20
Which would be OK in principle as long as they had designed the lock to be at the mid point of the door rather than off centre.......Countryman wrote:Yeah, that's what I figured.jmc67 wrote: Just measured mine, and yes there is a height difference on the key holes. And yeah, I'd be less than happy as well and also writing a stiffly worded letter to them.

I have two of their cabinets also and yes the keyholes are at the slightly different heights, which I never noticed until now!jmc67 wrote:I have a left and a right opening Brattonsound. After another nudge, I had contact from Brattonsound yesterday. Apparently they are about to produce something new with the same design flaw. I'm looking forward to a call back today.

Re: Brattonsound Titan RT -20
Those keyholes would annoy the hell out of me as well as there being only one "Titan" badge.
There are around 9 Brattonsound safes in my house... in one row there are 3x RD7+ and ST9+ (exact same dimensions), the keyholes line up and the safes look really neat.

Re: Brattonsound Titan RT -20
I have 3 cabinets in a row in my gun room.
All matching.
But in order to have one opening to left, I flipped it upsidedown - so, the keyholes are off centre.
I really dont see it as a problem.
