Re: .222 case prep problems
Slow the feed down on the parting off tool and keeping it constant often helps.
Re: .222 case prep problems
I have never had much luck with parting off. I need a mechanical hack saw or some other method of cutting metal.
Any way I took the neck die into work to day and did a bit more on it in the workshop using proper sized machinery. It's so much easier. I'll post some pictures of the dies once they start to look some thing like. I'm making jigs as I go so I can repeat the steps easily next time I make a set.

Re: .222 case prep problems
The neck bushing die is finished and it turned out rather well. Still need a suitable bushing though.
I have started on the seating die once that's done I'll crack on with some reloading.
I quite enjoyed this little exercise.
what's next.

Re: .222 case prep problems
The die set is finished I'm quite chuffed with the way they turned out. So I now have a set of L.E.Wilson type neck sizing bushing dies for my .222.
Time to get down to some reloading methinks. I have been working on a set of dies for the .303.
I'm thinking I might do a set for the mas36 as well.
I parted off three sections of round bar stock with out any issues

Re: .222 case prep problems
I'll sort some pictures out later. I'm off to Bamburgh Castle for the day.
Re: .222 case prep problems
I have not forgotten about the pictures just to busy reloading shooting casting etc.

Re: .222 case prep problems
I made some jigs for boring the holes in the correct place for the caps. I also collected together reamers taps and and made up bits and bobs so I can repeat the exercise if need be. The brass ring with the holes is used for measuring the work pieces outside diameter when turning down bar stock for the sizing die. I then drill a pilot hole through the work piece and secure the brass ring to drill the holes in the correct location. The top cap is then parted off and faced on both sides. Once this is done the main body of the die is bored out and reamed to the correct size.
