Had a lovely day at the Phoenix today - 3rd visit, but first time I've shot....298 on the T&P 1, which I was well happy with :D , and 285 on the Granet - arms were killing me by the end. The other competitors (and ROs) were really friendly, and I got some good advice on technique :D

Then went and spent twice my budget (as you do  ) on reloading stuff....finally got some decent scales (RCBS 10-10s) 8-) .

Thought I spotted 'dromia' (is that photo a couple of years old? :P ) - wish I'd of come and said hello now, but was late for a shoot....will definatly say hi next time.

Hope everyone else had a cool day,

John.

I had a good look around and spent a very pleasant hour with dromia and his wife. I even got a cup of tea which allegedly, dodgyrog had been denied! Likewise, met dodgyrog and discovered a bloke who had as many guns as me!

Had another browse and marvelled at how much some people now wanted for original Marlins, however, helped a friend spend several thousand pounds on an original Winchester 1886......... then more money on a resleeved original 1892! (He then retreated to the "Trench Experience" and drank wine all afternoon with Eddie the propietor, whose building is to be demolished to make way for the "Bisley Hotel")

Yet again another browse and realised any ancilleries I was after I could get from my local shop. It supports them and I get a discount as I help out there now and again! Bumped into some more friends, some who were trading.

Right at the end of the day saw a shock of red hair and a beardy bloke! Strange the look n people's faces when you call their names and they don't have a clue who you are!!! !0 minutes with Christel and Dave before being hurried along by a slightly tipsy, 70 year old who had finished the wine off in the Trench Experience! (Oh, he did call me today and apologise for him appearing rude!)

Good to put faces to names, thanks for your time. Phoenix will never replace Pistol AD, but it's now an event in it's own right, however, I don't think I'll ever attend again just for the trade show, I will be shooting again next year.....

Morning all

What did I buy , first stop was the ice cream van 3 x 99s and a lolly for the youngest , raffle tickets at the reception which was the next stop and that was it . Boring I know bur I recently bought an old scope on ebay and all my slots have been filled so I was being sorely tempted by all the goodies . I was thinking about a bayonet but looking at prices they seemed a bit over the top from others I have seen on the net and antique shops .
One of the girls saw a belt buckle she liked and that was £30 so that was a NO NO .
As mentioned saw Bnz and bobbob , I will have to get a hoodie , trouble is being a mod on another forum and member of several forums I will be wearing lots of logo clothing , but you do wander round thinking I wonder who these people are ,
Great day out met a few guys from different places , went and had a chat with Wayne from NMCP about his new belt fed .22 space gun
Saw some tricked Ruger 10/22s with anodised coloured furniture and the other half and 2 daughters picked a colour each that they liked
We were surprised at the number of knives on sale , nothing wrong in that just seemed a lot .
We had a drive round to the 600 yard FP for a look as girls had never seen anything like it before .
I will have start saving for next year .

Dave

Easily solved, get a top with a logo on for one forum and then a beanie hat with another one on.

I think it is great that people consider the Phoenix to be somewhere you can take the family and in some respects it is quite well geared up for youngsters, just take some ear plugs or cans in case you get close to the noisy lot. Even better if all the family is interested in shooting, I know so many people who's other halves have no interest in shooting what so ever so if you can get the wife interested brilliant, personally I have no idea how I would get all our ammunition built without Christels input.

I had hoped to get to the stalls midday but soon realised that is not an option so had to make do with a quick wander round at the end of the day. We are only a small forum so it was good to see other members with 'corporate branding' and it makes for identifying/being identified a lot easier, assuming you want to be associated with F-B(UK) I did not spot anyone wearing anything similar from other forums so I guess we won in that respect.

We do have a spare slot between us but both cabinets are crammed full and even finding room for the 6,5-284 was problematical so no more rifles for us for a while. I stlll fancy a 7.92/8mm one day but that will have to wait.

I took my 15 year old for his first visit to Bisley. Stayed at the ATSC and had a potter round the ranges. Had a shopping list from the lads in Lancashire so spent most of my time trying to buy various bullets and bits. Finally got to Stewards so £215 lighter for a pair of Champion glasses by 3 o'clock. Went to the Melville to watch some of the comps. Missed the visual impact of some of the old Pistol 80 days but only to be expected. All in all a good day out.
